NUDOS adds new members to its research team
This week, after a year of operation, the NUDOS Millennium Nucleus incorporated two new researchers to the team: Macarena Peña y Lillo; who joins as an associate researcher, and Fernando Bolaños; who joins as a postdoctoral researcher.
Macarena Peña y Lillo has a PhD in Communication from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, a Master’s degree in Communication from the same university and is a Journalist from the University of Chile. She currently works as an associate professor at the Faculty of Communication and Letters of the Universidad Diego Portales.
Her area of research is health communication focusing on inequalities in access and use of health information. In recent years she has been studying the relevance of digital spaces in the constitution of health information environments. She has led the FONDECYT initiation project (N°11180916) “Health information environments and their impact on the adoption and maintenance of healthy behaviors” and the project of the Contest for the Rapid Allocation of Resources for Research Projects on Coronavirus (ANID-COVID0508) “Information environments on COVID-19 and adoption of preventive behaviors in general population and risk groups”.
Fernando Bolaños holds a PhD in Education from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a Master in Education from the same university, a Master in Journalism and Public Affairs from the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas, Mexico, and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the Universidad Iberoamericana de México.
His area of research is the discourses related to the development of digital skills in Technical Vocational Education (ETP). Currently, he is the researcher in charge of the FONDECYT Postdoctoral Project 2022 Nº3220299, hosted at the Center for Mathematical Modeling (CMM) of the University of Chile in collaboration with the aRPa Initiative of the same university.
