Macarena Bonhomme, a young researcher at NUDOS and an associate professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Chile, presented her research “Social Media as a Tool of Resistance for Migrant Platform Workers” on Wednesday, June 12th at the LASA 2024 Congress, the world’s premier forum for discussion on Latin America and the Caribbean.

“This LASA Congress has been one of the best I’ve attended of the Association, mainly because I was able to reconnect with colleagues and further consolidate the international networks that will be key for future collaborations. It allowed me to attend several panels and talk with academics I hadn’t met before who are part of the sections I participate in (Migrations and Ethnicity), which inspired me greatly. In that sense, I could see potential collaborations with what we are developing in the Núcleo, especially from the axes that guide my research,” commented Bonhomme.

The LASA 2024 Congress, under the theme “Reaction and Resistance: Imagining Possible Futures in the Americas,” took place from June 12th to 15th, 2024, in Bogotá, Colombia, and virtually.
