Launching of the Communal Digitalization Index (CDI) developed by NUDOS
On October 9 and 16, the Millennium Nucleus on Digital Inequalities and Opportunities (NUDOS) will present the results of the first Communal Digitalization Index (IDC), a tool that measures the state of digitalization in the country’s municipalities.
In order to promote decentralization, the event will be held in two regions of the country. The first will be held on Wednesday, October 9 at the Museum of Visual Arts (MAVI) located in Lastarria 307, Santiago, from 09:00 to 11:00 hrs. The second will be held at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Universidad de Concepción on Wednesday October 16 between 15:00 and 17:00 hrs.
This IDC evaluates the progress of municipalities in three key dimensions: connectivity (internet access), municipal digital procedures (online services offered by municipalities), and school digitization (integration of technologies in education). Through this measurement, it seeks to identify the existing digital gaps and provide a key tool for decision-making in public policy.
During the events, the main researchers of NUDOS will present the results of the study, followed by a panel discussion with the participation of authorities and experts. The panel will address the challenges and opportunities posed by digitalization at the community level, and how this advance can contribute to reduce social inequalities in Chile.
