In October 2024, during the Agricultural Expo, a project led by the UN and funded by the Joint SDG Fund was launched, aimed at closing the digital divide in rural areas of Ñuble and La Araucanía. This initiative seeks to facilitate access to high-quality internet and promote the use of digital technologies in vulnerable communities, thus improving their economic and social opportunities.
The project, supported by the European Union, places special emphasis on digital inclusion and the empowerment of women and girls, contributing to the development of technological skills and economic autonomy in these regions. Additionally, it plans to strengthen access to education, health, and other essential services through digital infrastructure.
This collaborative effort involves various UN agencies and Chilean institutions, along with the private sector and civil society organizations, with the goal of transforming the lives of people in underserved areas.
