The eighth edition of the World Digital Competitiveness Ranking of the Institute for Management Development (IMD), ranked Chile third in the region and 42nd globally.

According to the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2024, the country ranked third in the Americas and 42nd globally, surpassed in the region only by the United States (4th) and Canada (13th). This ranking, prepared by the Institute for Management Development (IMD), evaluates 67 countries on their ability to adapt and take advantage of digital technologies as an economic driver through three indicators: knowledge, technology and preparation for the future.

Globally, the list is led by Singapore, Switzerland and Denmark, countries that stand out for the digitization of financial services, public-private partnerships and advanced integration of technology in their governments. Although Latin America faces significant challenges in connectivity and access to digital infrastructure, Chile’s leadership demonstrates that it is possible to overcome these barriers with strategic policies and key investments.

While Chile stands out in the region, experts agree that it must continue to work to remain competitive. Among the most pressing challenges are improving connectivity infrastructure, implementing disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence and strengthening digital education. These measures would not only strengthen the country’s position on the global stage, but also ensure sustainable economic development for its population.
