Chile has the third highest internet speed in the world
The recent graph published by Latinometrics, an online platform that collects and publishes information on Latin America, places Chile in third place in terms of average speed of domestic broadband service.
This ranking includes countries from different continents and Chile is in the top ten, only surpassed by Singapore, which is in first place, and Hong Kong, which is in second place. The country is also well above the international average and is the only Latin American country that has a place in the top ten.
The Undersecretary of Telecommunications, Claudio Araya, explains in an interview with Las Últimas Noticias that “in our country there are very good fiber optic backbone networks. Today the best data transmission speed is achieved with this technology and Chile has fiber optics to link Visviri in the north and Puerto Williams in the south”.
