90% of SMEs in Chile consider it relevant to digitize their company
The “Digital Adoption of SMEs Chile 2023” survey, conducted by Movistar Empresas estudio, covered 1,748 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. The study revealed that, in Chile, 90% of the businesses surveyed rated the need to acquire digital solutions as “relevant” or “very relevant”, and that more than 50% of these companies are already exploring digital transformation initiatives.
In terms of investment, the report indicates that 55% of Chilean SMEs will allocate more than 10% of their budget to digitalization in 2024, an increase of 27% compared to the previous year. This phenomenon is also observed in Latin America, where 46% of small and medium-sized companies are in the process of digitization.
Regarding the most relevant digital solutions, the study shows that, in Chile, online collaboration, omnichannel and digital marketing technologies were the most adopted in 2023. By 2024, companies plan to incorporate technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data and Analytics.
In the area of cybersecurity, 47% of SMEs plan to implement solutions within a maximum of one year to protect their networks, computers and mobile devices. More than 30% of companies surveyed reported experiencing cyberattacks in the past 12 months, underscoring the need to strengthen security measures.
Finally, the report noted that 75% of companies recognize obstacles, with a lack of specialized personnel and fear of digital security risks being the main challenges. To overcome these barriers, companies identify the need for personalized advice, virtual courses and access to specialized information.
