The researcher of the Millennium Nucleus on Inequalities and Digital Opportunities (NUDOS) and the Millennium Institute Foundations of Data (IMFD), Sergio Toro, will maintain his role as expert for the National Socioeconomic Characterization Survey (CASEN) 2024 after his participation in the 2022 process.

This panel of experts, made up of eight academics, has the task of validating the process of each survey. “Part of our role is to generate some kind of evaluation regarding how the field was developed, the type of questions that were asked and whether they are working. The Ministry of Social Development is in charge of doing the analysis,” explains the Universidad Mayor academic.

The academics come from different disciplines and in Sergio’s case, his role is more related to the territorial scope, that is, how the survey can be better worked from a regional perspective.

In the first instance, this working group was convened for the CASEN 2022, but they will continue in the role for the 2024 survey, which has already begun the first conversations.

In the opinion of the political scientist and researcher of NUDOS, the ideal is that the next process incorporates the effect of the digitalization of the State in the allocation of public resources and subsidies, such as the use of the unique key, the level of access that people have, among others.
