New Government of Spain incorporates the Ministry of Digital Transformation
This Monday, the President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, announced the composition of the new Executive that will accompany him in his third term, and one of the novelties was the incorporation of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, a portfolio that will be led by the Spanish economist and politician, José Luis Escrivá.
After his second re-election, Pedro Sánchez announced the creation of a new Ministry of Digital Transformation in Spain, a decision that is in line with the digitalization and connectivity policies sustained during his government.
Nadia Calviño, Minister of Economy and Vice President of the Government of Spain, already stated in 2019 that “digital transformation will be one of the axes of the new government’s policy”.
The Digital Spain Agenda 2026 has achieved numbers such as 90% ultrafast fixed broadband coverage, 72% rural ultrafast fixed broadband coverage, 82% 5G coverage and 50% 5G coverage in rural areas.
